Here’s our interview with Patrick Wan of Magic Wand, probably one of the most successful ventriloquist in Singapore. He has been featured in the famous Japanese TV’s show ‘The Incredible People’, which was broadcast worldwide; as well as the popular “China’s Got Talent.”

Q: Tell us why MagicWand is the preferred ventriloquist?
A: He has 40 years of experience under his belt and a mutli-racial act suitable for Singapore.
Q: How do you differentiate yourself from other entertainment magicians?
A: Most magicians shows off their skills but I entertain them and make them enjoy.
Q: Why do you intend to set up magic shops?
Because I love to share and meet up with people with same interests.
Q: Which is your first flagship store?
A: Peninsula Shopping Centre
Q: Who is the most famous person you have ever performed for?
A: My girl friend now wife haha.
Q: How many shows do you do a year?
A: Too many.
Q: Your largest ever show?
A: Shanghai Art Festivals.
Q: How did you normally prepare for your shows?
A: Months ahead. I want every shows to be my best.
Q: Since it is not every day that a person encounters a ventriloquist. What is the first thing people ask you the moment they find out about your profession?
A: Your wife must be very lucky to watch you tell jokes everydays.
Q: The greatest payoff for an entertainer is typically non-financial. What is the most rewarding part when you perform for others?
A: When they think that my puppet is real.
Q: Who inspire you to be a ventriloquist?
A: A missionary.
Q: What do you normally do when you are not performing?
A: Thinking of new ideas.
Q: Magic tends to start off as a passion before turning into a profession. If you weren’t Patrick Wan the Ventriloquist, what will you be?
A: A pastor.
Q: Could you elaborate more on the street magic class?
A: I teach so others can perform impromptu without gadgets.
